🟪 Gas and stock market After the official dollar rate, gas is the second most influential variable on the Iranian stock market. From petrochemicals whose production feed is gas to steel mills that use gas to melt iron and even small companies are all dependent on gas. This dependence is both in terms of rate and supply. For this reason, in the last 15 years and after the implementation of the subsidy targeting law, any change in the gas formula or rate has affected the direction of the stock market. The start of the stock market collapse in 2012 was with the gas formula, a formula in which the rates of two European hubs were fixed, which has been protested ever since. Of course, in the targeting law itself, the government was told that the price of feed gas and fuel is linked to the export price, and not taking into account the cost of transportation from the south to the export border has caused an unreasonable and expensive export rate to enter the formulas in addition to export hubs. Now, after 10 years of that strange formula that caused Iran's petrochemical industry to fail to develop and investment to grow gas production, the formula must be revised. Petrochemicals are following this correction so that they can take a breath. But is the government under the burden of this change? The government budget has become the Achilles heel of the country and the continuation of the current trend will definitely lead to bankruptcy of Iran's economy. This year, 33% of the budget was financed by borrowing, and next year, with the official dollar of 90 thousand tomans, in the best scenario, i.e. the continuation of oil exports, the same amount of borrowing was needed to cover the affairs.
